Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to the Podeo app and to this website (together, "the Service"), operated by Podeo. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.
2. Your account
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, and for keeping your account secure.
- One account per person. Don't create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission, or impersonate any person or organization.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings - see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data when you do.
3. Content you post
You keep ownership of comments, videos, and any other content you post ("User Content"). By posting it, you give Podeo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute it through the Service, for as long as it remains posted, so we can operate the Service.
You confirm that you have the right to post your User Content, and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights (including copyright) or break the law.
Videos are only published after review and approval - see "Content moderation" below.
4. Affiliated platforms and content
Podeo and Islamic Media (islamicmedia.com.au) are affiliated platforms operated by the same team. By using the Service, you agree that:
- Some content on Podeo comes from Islamic Media. This allows Podeo to offer a broad library of content from launch.
- If you have an existing Islamic Media account, you may be prompted to link it to Podeo - this is optional and requires your explicit confirmation.
- Content posted through Podeo does not appear on Islamic Media.
- Podeo accounts with contributor or creator access are limited to Podeo only - they cannot post content to Islamic Media.
5. Acceptable use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- Post content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or otherwise unlawful.
- Post spam, or content that is knowingly false or misleading.
- Infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
- Harass, bully, or impersonate other users.
- Attempt to disrupt, hack, or gain unauthorised access to the Service.
- Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law.
6. Content moderation
To keep the Service safe, we operate the following:
- Upload review: videos are reviewed before they're published.
- Reporting: you can report a video, comment, or account that concerns you, from within the app.
- Blocking: you can block another user at any time; their content will no longer be shown to you.
- Enforcement: we may remove content, or suspend or terminate an account, that we determine violates these Terms, without prior notice.
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, contact us at support@podeo.app with details and we will review it.
7. Religious and educational content
Alongside travel, tech, lifestyle and other content, the Service hosts talks, lectures, and videos from a number of independent scholars and contributors. Where content addresses religious matters, it is provided for general educational and informational purposes only, and is not a substitute for a personal consultation with a qualified scholar - especially for a specific religious ruling (fatwa) that depends on your individual circumstances.
Views, opinions, and rulings expressed by any speaker or contributor are their own, and do not necessarily represent an official position of Podeo. Different scholars may hold different, equally valid positions on the same matter.
8. Intellectual property
Other than User Content, everything on the Service (branding, design, software) belongs to Podeo or its licensors, and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute it without our permission.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is", without guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or continued availability of any content. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Podeo is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service or decisions made based on content viewed on it. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right you have under applicable consumer protection law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
