This Privacy Policy applies to the Podeo app and to this website, published by Podeo. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and a generated handle when you sign up.
- Profile photo, if you choose to submit one for approval.
- Content you create: comments, likes, saved videos, follows, reports you submit, accounts you block, and (for approved creators) uploaded videos.
- Location, only if you allow it, to calculate accurate prayer times for where you are.
- Basic technical and usage information: app version, device type, and general usage - including which videos you watch and how much of each you watch - so we can keep the app working, understand engagement, and improve it.
How we use it
- To create and operate your account, and to display your name/photo/handle on content you're credited for.
- To calculate correct prayer times and notifications for your location.
- To send account-related email, such as verifying your email address.
- To review reports of content or accounts, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run the app on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Supabase - authentication, database, and photo storage.
- Amazon SES - sending account emails.
- Cloudflare - hosting and delivering video content and this website.
We do not share your information with anyone else except where required by law.
Your choices and rights
- You can request a different handle at any time from Settings.
- You can block another user at any time; this hides their content from you. You can report content or an account that concerns you.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This deactivates it immediately; you can restore it by logging back in within 30 days, after which it is permanently deleted.
- You can turn off location access at any time in your device settings (prayer times will fall back to a manual calculation method).
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and for 30 days after you delete your account (see "Your choices and rights" above), after which it's permanently removed. Reports you submit, and moderation records, may be retained longer where needed to protect the community or comply with the law.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website uses only essential, technical cookies needed to run the site and, on the app, technical identifiers needed to keep you signed in. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising or tracking, and we do not sell information gathered this way.
International users
Our service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own. By using the app, you consent to this.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
